Our vision for a healthy Australia includes real-time, linked data, including self-care, primary, community and hospital care data being utilised to understand individual and population health needs. We will see such things as:
- Health outcomes being used to assess health sector performance and the quality of patient care.
- Patient-reported experience and outcome measures (PREMS and PROMS) being collected and reported.
- The use of technology and data to evaluate outcomes, including PREMS and PROMS, is mainstream, with sharing of data across all sectors of health, and with the community.

These case studies exemplify the recommendations put forward in AHHA’s blueprint for a post-2020 national health agreement and provide current examples of innovative work and best-practice in Australia in data and reporting.
